2020: 100 million consumers in augmented reality
At its launch, Retail VR used the findings of a Gartner study that indicated 100 million consumers will be buying in augmented reality online and in stores by 2020. This month, Gartner reinforces its argument and consolidates its study with new indicators.
Cool! More fuel for the fire at Retail VR: 46% of retailers plan to deploy virtual and augmented reality solutions to meet customer experience requirements. "The impact of virtual and augmented reality in retail can be transformative," said Ms. Karki recently as a Gartner analyst leader. "Retailers can use AR as an extension of the brand experience to engage customers in immersive environments and drive revenue." And to use IKEA's app as an example, which remains a benchmark in the field.
Multiplication of v-commerce experiences
VR is not left out, Gartner cites Alibaba and its VR store, ebay and its collaboration with Myer, or Adidas. However, a reference is missing. It is for us "THE" reference because it is above all a real commercial success: Marxent. This American company specialized in the Vcommerce accompanies since 2 years many brands. It is the case for Macy's or Office Depot for the marketing of furniture in VR.
5G: the acceleration vector
Why is this study that came out almost 2 years ago now suddenly coming out? It's because it refers to 5G.
The 5G that everyone is talking about will accelerate the phenomenon and speed up real-time rendering. The same goes for immersive video downloads. 5G will add that touch of experience that is sorely lacking at the moment. This lack of experience is not only specific to the dying hypermarket. It is also true for digital channels, so efficient, but so poor in experience.
Retail VR believes in the reenchantment of v-commerce, in 3D as the main vector of the phygital that consumers expect. Contact us to discuss your ideas! Want to know more about virtual reality? Download the free white paper "The contribution of 3D in retail".
