v-commerce usage: VR and the inflight catalog
ETIHAD, one of the flagships of the aviation industry is now using VR. The goal: to offer its customers new travel experiences; virtual ones. Since the beginning of the year, the airline's customers at Abu Dhabi airport have been able to enjoy an inflight catalog, accessible through the virtual reality headsets at their disposal. Other lounges and airports already offer (or will offer) this inflight catalog. Other lounges and airports already offer (or will offer) this inflight catalog. In fact, Lufthansa is launching it and Aviapartner is offering it at Fiumicino. The airline intends to take this further by offering its business customers an inflight shopping solution in VR. The old duty free catalog will be replaced by a VR headset that will allow the customer to find his usual catalog. You could for example find a range of personalized services. Indeed, you could benefit from a reservation service for guided tours or shows, or the menu on your flight. The application, developed in conjunction with VISA, was acclaimed by users at a customer event in Barcelona.
The intentions of Linda Celestino VP of Etihad
"By carrying out trials like this, we already understand that modern travelers expect more information and are looking for increasingly connected and immersive experiences that engage and entertain them at every level." and adds, "The development of this type of technology could also enable us to offer more end-to-end personalization and entertainment solutions, reinforcing our strategy to offer greater choice at every stage of the customer journey." "The future of the inflight catalog will certainly involve v-commerce. What could be more convenient than booking a restaurant or making a few purchases in flight? Better still, to have something delivered to your hotel. Being able to buy, during flight time, the toaster you never took the time to replace... The future of v-commerce will also pass over our heads. We're convinced of it. Want to know more about virtual reality? Download the free white paper "The contribution of 3D to retail".
