Spatialand and Walmart
In a previous post we mentioned the acquisition of Spatialand by Walmart. We predicted the launch of the first v-commerce experiences from the company. It's done! By the way, it's a v-commerce experiment deployed on a large scale. Last week, the company announced the production of its first virtual experience, aimed at the general public. In fact, it will be released just before the release of the DreamWorks movie "Dragon 3, the Hidden World".
The v-commerce experience
The operation, co-organized by HP, Intel and Positron, is taking place in Wallmart parking lots in more than 16 cities in the USA. The event aims to familiarize with the characters of the film and of course to surf on the release of the blockbuster. The virtual reality experience was designed in collaboration with the DreamWorks studio. Users are immersed in the Dragon universe. Thus, they are guided in a virtual store where they can buy the range of derivative products (plush, DVD, video games etc.). The range of derivative products is also available in the 2000 stores in the country.
Spatialand
Spatialand is a startup that specializes in VR. Bought in 2017 by Wallmart, this company was then developing solutions that facilitate the creation of immersive virtual reality experiences. This acquisition was announced as a turning point for the group, which is looking to reinvent and transform the shopping experience of its customers. Spatialand is now located in STORE n°8, the in-house incubator.
